Current Definition Making Argumentation Serve Design
It is a well-established empirical finding that designers do not like to study large information repositories in the abstract (such as many pages of design rationale, of user manuals, etc). Designers get interested in argumentation in situations which are direct relevant to their goals and objectives and which help them understand problematic aspects of the design situation. In order to serve the design activity, argumentation must be available when it is relevant to the specific problem the designer trying to understand.
